Darlene D. Pedersen is a clinical nurse
specialist and a psychotherapist who received her Bachelor
of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Connecticut and her
Master’s of Science (MSN) in Nursing from the University of
Pennsylvania. She has over fifteen years of experience in nursing and is
board certified as a psychiatric clinical nurse
specialist. Her therapeutic focus
is on brief, solution-focused
therapy as well as cognitive-behavioral
therapy and believes that in some instances pharmacologic treatment can
be a necessary part of that therapy. Her areas of interest and
experience include persons adjusting to medical disorders
(cancer, chronic illness, and so forth),loss, grieving and
bereavement (including pets), aging, the older adult, mood
disorders (such as depression and
bipolar disorders), traumatic
stress and stress management, organizational
stress (business and work related) and psychopharmacology.
