PsychOptions™ was founded by Darlene D. Pedersen, MSN, APRN,BC, as a private practice in Pennsylvania. Darlene D. Pedersen is a clinical nurse specialist and a psychotherapist who received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Connecticut and her Master’s of Science (MSN) in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania. She has over fifteen years of experience in nursing and is nationally certified (board certified) as a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Darlene D. Pedersen is also the author of PsychNotes , a pocket-sized clinical guide for mental health professionals and anyone interested in key psychiatric disorders, drug therapy, common interventions, the elderly, crisis, abuse, family and client education/interventions, and other key clinical information. Her therapeutic focus is on brief, solution-focused therapy as well as cognitive-behavioral therapy and believes that in some instances pharmacologic treatment can be a necessary part of that therapy (referrals will be made accordingly). .
